“Love and Infertility” Forward by Dr. Rob
Kristen Magnacca asked Dr. Rob to write a Forward for her upcoming paper back release of her book “Love and Infertility”.
Here is the forward:
It is with great pleasure and joy that I’m writing this forward for this wonderful guide to understanding the relationship between love and infertility. Infertility can be heartache to those couples who have found themselves in an unexpected life situation. The infertility experience can be one of the rockiest roads in a relationship. Kristen lays out, in a beautifully written collection of stories and personal experiences, methods that helped her and her husband Mark traverse the daunting process of infertility. With first hand knowledge she has created a guide that shares emotions and practical exercises to help improve one’s ability to travel down this difficult road. It is through the work of learning and active participation that we gain the ability to improve our lives and fulfill our dreams.
Learning to communicate and express one’s feelings in life can be a challenge. When a couple experiences a disappointment such as infertility it can take them into a minefield that runs the risk of breaking up the relationship. Sharing life stories and finding a helpful guide can be a savior to all of us. Kristen provides a valuable and important “how to” guide that each and every couple should use during their journey through the fertility process. The fertility practitioner would also gain tremendous insight into the interpersonal issues that a couple faces when diagnosed with infertility. Kristen talks about Eastern philosophies and how mindfulness can be a very powerful healing tool. The secret is a positive attitude which can benefit us all and the understanding that the mind is the most powerful drug in the universe.
When we better understand the complexities of relationships, good things are bound to happen. Growth and development require watering and feeding of the soul, which is the work of the day. Importantly, our relationships grow and expand enabling us to reflect and bring forth the bounty of a beautiful life. It is with synchronicity that our lives come together and it’s important for us all to embrace these relationships. This book enables us to see the positives in the journey and to face the fears of life. Kristen provides a positive energy in this universe and enables us all to shine each and every day. She provides us with spectacular ideas that aid us to better understand that journey.
Stories are the basis for learning and understanding the nature of the mind and life. I now find myself spending more and more time with clients (patients) and sharing these ideas. The personal and heart felt energy behind these wonderful stories and ideas help to improve the outcome for couples on this journey and to strengthen their relationships. Share the stories and create the habits that enable us to visualize and create a better attitude in life. This practice will improve all outcomes. These stories share the ideas of how we all learn differently and how to better communicate with one another.
As a reproductive endocrinologist, trained and specializing in Western medicine, I often found myself falling short on understanding the complexities of relationships and the couples’ experience while going through infertility. Kristen so wonderfully shares her journey and emotions, which has enabled me to better understand and assist my clients through the process. With this wonderful book Kristen guides you in ways to improve your life while at the same time increasing your odds of creating the family of your dreams. Kristin’s ideas and methods prompt us into action and challenge us to put into practice ideas such as creative visualization, journaling, asking for help, the mind body spirit connection and how to share our feelings. She discusses many other resources to empower those who are experiencing infertility. These communication and learning methods help us roll with the changes of life and can assist us on the fertility roller coaster as well. This book is not only valuable for those suffering from infertility but is a great guide to relationships in general and methods to improving communication on the road to living one’s best life.
