A good day in the universe for a smile
July 6th, 2008 // 7:10 pm @ admin
While sitting out by the lake on the fourth of July, I spent some time reading passages written by Thich Nhat Hanh in his book Peace is Every Step: The Path of Mindfulness in Everyday Life. I was pleased to find that the Vietnam born Buddhist Monk talks about the value of the simple smile in our lives.
He writes about the medicinal value of the smile and how it can relax the mind and the body. A smile can send the beautiful energy of the universe throughout our bodies. Thich Nhat Hanh, comments on ways to bring joy to your day. “Our smile affirms our awareness and determination to live in peace and joy. The source of a true smile is an awakened mind.”
Remind yourself to smile each and every day. The best time is when you wake up in the morning. Put a note on the bathroom mirror or on your alarm clock as a reminder of the importance of a smile. “Smiling helps you approach the day with gentleness and understanding. For others that smile on a regular basis are full of awareness. The smile relaxes the muscles in our face and banishes all worries and fatigue. A tiny bud of a smile on our lips nourishes awareness and calms us miraculously. It returns to us the peace we thought we had lost.”
The smile is said to bring happiness to our life and to those around us. The gift of a smile costs us nothing yet it is priceless. We are all beautiful in this life and a smile helps us create the best feeling of life.
Remember to smile
on and share it forward
